Hall Place
Description
The house boasts a panelled Tudor Great Hall, overlooked by a minstrel's gallery, and various period rooms. The 17th century additions and improvements by Sir Robert Austen include a vaulted Long Gallery and splendid Great Chamber with a fine plaster ceiling. The new museum exhibition galleries on the first floor of the Stuart part of the house allow us for the first time to mount sizeable displays of items from the borough’s museum collection of over 50,000 objects. Hall Place is surrounded by 65 hectares of magnificent formal gardens and landscaped parkland that have something to offer visitors throughout the year. The Hall Place gardens are one of only a handful of sites in the UK to have won the Civic Trust’s Green Flag award for eleven successive years and also have coveted Green Heritage Site status.
